Blog2Life are very excited to announce the release of Word Press’d 0.4!

We apologise for the delay in the coming of this update but we hope it will have been worth the wait.. We’ve made a whole bunch of fixes (of which 90% were based on bugs you guys and found and extra’s you’d like to see) and added them all into this latest version.

Here is a concise lists of all the goodies (and fixes) we’ve added into this version..

1. Dynamic sidebar tabs (Thanks to the help of imanto.com)
2. Slight recode to the sidebar (This should fix any errors)
3. 300 x 250 Advert Box Added For Easy Implementation Of Adsense (Just add your code where we specify and your away)
4. Feed image reflection to add depth to the theme
5. Highlighted Admin Comments
6. Comments and ping fixes
7. Popularity plugin (Edited to work on 2.5)
8. Comment number on single posts added
9. Comment permalink jumping on single posts fixed
10. Login bug in which the divider was showing when ‘Register’ option is disabled
11. HTML and CSS comments to allow for easier editing of key areas such as sidebar

Word Press’d 0.4 In-depth

Dynamic Sidebar Tabs (Implemented with the help of imanto.com)

Dynamic Sidebar Tabs was one ot the top requested additions to Word Press’d. A handy little web app that allows you to reduce sidebar length and optimise content above the fold and to make the most of that limited space. We have added this feature into version 0.4 with the window changing on hovering over the tabs. We’ve also taken a great deal of time trying to customise this feature so it fits in perfectly with the Word Press’d theme.

Our only worry is if you start to edit the tabs try avoiding long words for your tab titles as if the names are too long you will get the last tab appearing on a new line and this will throw the look of the tab.

Slight recode to the sidebar

We have taken some time to look at the sidebar coding and hope that with a few extra changes you should now not have any problems with floats or margin errors in all of the most popular web-browsers

300 x 250 Advert Box Added For Easy Implementation Of Adsense

Version 0.4 features a 300 x 250 advert ready box at the top of the sidebar for incredibly easy implementation of adverts on your website. Head to the following location

‘Design’ > ‘Edit Theme’ > ‘Sidebar’

Then add your code between the labels in your code replacing the div.

Feed Image Reflection

This being present from the design stages but being implemented due to time restrictions has now been added to Word Press’d. We hope the slight reflection will help add a sense of depth to the theme and will make your fed button that little bit more visually attractive.

Highlighted Admin Comments

Another user request was to highlight those comments being posted by the admin on an article as most of the time its those comments that are most valuable to readers. With the update admin comments now feature a blue cloud as opposed to the red cloud of a guest or member.

Comments And Ping Fixes

We have now fixed any errors with the displaying of the comments and pings on the theme

Popularity Plug-in (Edited to work on 2.5)

The popularity plug-in now comes standard with the theme and must be used to display the “Popular” list found on the dynamic sidebars. If your dynamic sidebars are not showing properly this may be because you have not installed of activated this plug-in. We have also edited the plug-in allowing it to work on WP 2.5

Comment Number

Another request from our readers was to have the number of the comment on each post shown. We have added this on the right side of the comment meta bar.

Comment Permalink Jumping

We have now fixed a small bug in which comment permalinks would go to a spcific post but not jump to the specific comment.

Login Bug

A small bug in which the divider between ‘Login’ and ‘Register’ was showing when ‘Register’ option is disabled. This now only shows when both options are available

HTML and CSS Notes

We have now added notes <!– This is a note –> to some of the most commonly edited theme files such as:

1. Sidebar.php
2. Sidebartabs.php
3. Stlye.css

This should allow for easier editing of these key area’s and help speed up your editing.
